Members of the Amarillo community who are interested in learning more about neighborhood issues such as vacant lots, abandoned homes, illegal dumping and community development are invited to attend the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas Amarillo Community Education Forum from 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Saturday at the Amarillo College Downtown Campus, 1314 S. Polk St.
The forum will be a way for community members to learn more about common challenges in some Amarillo areas and hear workable solutions that have helped to improve other neighborhoods.
Attendees can expect the following topics to be covered: Community Development around Texas, a report on the Barrio Neighborhood Plan, the Amarillo Demographic Report and Amarillo Assessment of Fair Housing.
Also on the agenda is the LANWT Community Revitalization Project and breakout sessions on Housing and Environmental Justice and Community Development.
Legal Aid of Northwest Texas is a nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal services to low-income residents in 114 Texas counties throughout North and West Texas, per the LANWT website.
